Open-ended questions give employees the opportunity to express themselves freely on a given subject.
They allow the raw opinions of respondents to be collected, and thus :
- to find initial solutions thanks to suggestions
- and/or to reveal key elements impacting employee engagement and satisfaction on the subject under discussion.
Emerging themes
We know that verbatim analysis takes time and that it is tempting to want to read all the answers. In order to make the analysis process easier, Supermood brings up the emerging themes by grouping the most quoted words.
ℹ Word recurrence works for only one of the languages defined on the account: French or English.
Sentiment analysis
Feelings analysis is based on the emotion behind a comment.
The positive, negative, or neutral character
For each emerging theme, you can observe the distribution of emotions transmitted in the responses. This distribution allows you to understand whether the word was used in a positive, negative, or neutral attitude.
For more details about the algorithm used, see the article: Natural Language.
Sensitive comments
A sensitive comment is a comment containing keywords that are insulting, or potentially related to psychosocial risks or harassment.
ℹDetection of sensitive comments only works for the French language.
Filter comments
The comments displayed by default correspond to the set of responses of the perimeter to which you have access; i.e. the whole organization for an administrator and the corresponding team for a result reader.
Filter by recurring words
Filter comments by recurring word allows you to access all the corresponding comments.
Our recommendation: Prioritize the analysis of recurring words used with a negative emotion. This will allow you to identify areas of dissatisfaction and define your next actions to improve employee engagement.
Search by keywords
You have already identified hot topics within your team and would like to find the comments that mention these topics? The keyword search helps you in this analysis!
Administrator filters
If you want to analyze a population in more detail, you can as an administrator zoom in on this population: the analyses (keywords) and the list of comments will be updated accordingly.
Results presentation
Export comments
From the 'details' view of the question, you have the possibility to export the emerging themes (the recurring words) with the distribution of the emotions transmitted in the answers directly in the top right corner of the graph.
ℹ Administrators can export the raw comments from the export tab with the possibility to select a targeted population and the period over which the open questions were asked.
Good practices
Maintain confidentiality
We recommend that you avoid presenting raw comments to your teams: it is preferable to transmit only the main topics revealed by the recurrence of words to avoid a style of writing being recognized. If you wish to illustrate your comments, rephrase one of the comments in your own way.
Presenting emerging themes
If you wish to present the emerging themes to your teams, accompany them with the arguments and opinions most frequently raised. Focus on the few comments that are most relevant to the results of your qualitative survey.
