The double filter

This option allows you to have a second filter to zoom in on a population more precisely, in addition to the available comparison filters - giving you more granularity when examining your results.

It offers undeniable advantages in results analysis, but implies a certain responsibility, especially in protecting the confidentiality of your teams.

In this article:

What will change on the platform?

Benefits

When you activate the option, the platform displays a second filter everywhere it is possible to zoom in on a population.
Also, you benefit from a population filter when exporting results.

In practice, here is how it works for each role:

  • administrators and campaign owners will be able to apply 2 filters, any of them;

  • viewers with access to all employees will be able to apply 2 filters, within the limits of the filters they have been assigned;

  • viewers with a specific perimeter will keep their 1st filter set on their scope, and will be able to filter 1 more time, to see their sub-teams for example.

⚠️ The double filter will be available to everyone and on all results

All administrators and all viewers will have access to two filters. It is not possible to enable it for only some of the managers.

It will be possible to apply a second filter on past results as well as future ones, as long as the option is active.

Risks

When only one analysis filter is available, the results have a very high level of confidentiality - an individual's response cannot be isolated.

When a second filter is available, the platform still ensures the confidentiality of participants (through the confidentiality threshold). However, depending on the account configuration, the level of protection can decrease: by crossing too many filters, a malicious individual could, under certain conditions, cross-reference enough information to find a response.
To avoid this, just make sure you take the necessary precautions.

When to enable it?

If you or your managers need more granularity in the results.

By default, viewers (managers) only have access to one filter to review their results. They are therefore limited in their ability to filter results.

Example: Marco manages the Chicago sales team, his filter will be limited to that team only, and he won't be able to zoom in on any sub-teams. Which is fine.

In some cases, this single filter will be an obstacle, as they will miss important details to study their results.

Example: Rosie manages the California region, and needs to be able to detail not only the scores at that level, but also the store details, city by city. Therefore, a single filter on [State = California] will limit her analysis capabilities.

→ In this case, the double filter serves a purpose!

Alternatively, in cases where you have a medium to small structure - or simply, if your hierarchical system means that your managers will observe the results of their direct subordinates without needing to drill down to the next levels - a single filter is most often sufficient and, above all, safer.

Enabling the double filter

1. Precautions : limit accessible filters

As mentioned above, enabling the double filter can reduce the level of confidentiality of employee answers. To avoid this risk, when assigning rights to viewers, be sure to:

  • give access only to the necessary filters in order to avoid limit data crossings (we recommend not to exceed 2 filters);

  • favor only hierarchical filters for managers, and reserve the use of demographic filters for administrators.

💡 Your managers already have rights on the platform? To make sure their rights meet these guidelines, you can delete the existing rule and recreate it with the right filters.

→ for manually added results viewers : Adding viewers with manual mode
→ for automatically defined results viewers : Adding viewers with a rights rule

2. Enabling the double filtre

You have taken the necessary precautions? Then you are ready to activate the double filter on your company's account!

  • Locate the "Confidentiality & Results analysis" block - it contains the "Maximum number of successive filters" field.

  • Edit the field and click "Save"!

ℹ️ Upon activation, the platform will ask you to confirm that you want to open access to a second filter on the account results.

3. Communicate on the change to your teams

Consider informing managers of this change through internal communication, so that they are aware of their filtering capabilities and limitations.
